Hiking trip Slættaratind
The highest mountain in the Faroe Islands.
Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy the fabulous view from the islands’ highest mountain, Slættaratindur (880m) on the island of Eysturoy. The hike starts from Eiðisskarð, which is the pass between Eiði and Funningur. This hike is suitable for people with basic hiking knowledge and some experience. The slopes are gentle, yet a few are steep. On this hike you get a view of e.g. Haldórsvík, with the eight-sided church and a string of mountains that encircle the villages in the north. Throughout the hike, you will be accompanied by sheep that graze on the mountain side. When you reach the top, the view is nothing less than spectacular; especially, if you are lucky with the weather. On a clear, sunny day, the view covers practically all of the Faroe Islands.
