Bus tour to Gjógv

Bus tour to Gjógv

We drive to Eysturoy to see the two stoneformations The Giant and the Witch, just off the northern coast of the island of Eysturoy, close to the town of Eiði. After this we drive to the charming village of Gjógv. Gjógv is best known for its picturesque scenery dotted with multi-coloured old house built around its vital natural harbour, which lies protected in the gorge that has given the village its name, gjógv means gorge in Faroese. It is a fitting name; the harbour carved by the sea was the village’s lifeline before the arrival of modern roads. This is a very small village – approx. 30 people live in Gjógv nowadays, but it attracts many visitors, both foreigners and locals, who are seduced by its romantic tranquillity. Gjógv is the perfect spot for a leisurly stroll, and we will explore the little village before heading to its charming guesthouse, Gjáargarður, for lunch. After lunch we drive back to Tórshavn.
